WASA Clearance, what is it and when to apply?

Posted by CDS Real Estate on November 25, 2016

The seller of a property will apply for a WASA clearance. This confirms that the seller does not owe any payments to WASA.

When to apply?

Normally the seller will apply for a WASA Clearance after the purchaser made an offer and the seller accepted the offer.

What happens if I own several parcels of land falling under one assessment number and wish to sell just a lot from a particular area? The Warden Office will not give me a separate assessment number for just that lot. So how can I obtain a Was a Clearance Certificate without an individual assessment no.?

If you co-own a bill and property, do you need permission from the other to apply for a clearance certificate? I was told there is a new policy that requires same.

      Hi Laurie,

Thank you for your comment! Yes, there are some new regulations to obtain a WASA clearance certificate. Once a property is in the name of multiple persons, each person must sign the new form in order to be able to obtain the clearance. Should you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us directly.
